T31 Demolition tank

Among the unique vehicles developed using an M4 Sherman variant as a base was the T31 Demolition Tank. Originally, the T31 was to mount dual rocket launchers, dual machine guns, a dozer blade, and a flamethrower to create an engineering vehicle that could remove various battlefield obstacles. Fittings for the blade and flamethrower were installed on the first prototype, as were two T94 rocket launchers mounted on either side of the turret and false 105mm gun. The failure of the launchers during testing, however, contributed to the project’s cancellation in January 1946.
