About
Weighing 188 tons, the Maus is notable for being the heaviest tank ever constructed, despite only two prototypes being built. Of these, only one was fitted with an armament: a 128mm main gun and a 75mm secondary gun, although 150mm and 170mm main guns were also proposed. Development work began at the Porsche company in 1942 and testing continued into 1944, even though an order for 150 units was canceled in 1943.
