About
Canada’s answer to the Sherman tank, the Grizzly I cruiser tank was assembled at the Montreal Locomotive Works. Based on the M4A1 Sherman with a few notable differences including the Canadian Dry Pin treads, production began in August 1943 with 1,200 on order. The Canadian War Office eventually canceled the program, but not before 188 Grizzlies were built.
