About
During both the Six Day War of 1967 and the Yom Kippur War of 1973, Israel captured a number of Soviet-made T-54s and T-55s that had been in service with Syria and Egypt. These tanks were refitted with 100mm and 105mm guns and renamed “Tiran.” The Tiran 4 was a renovated T-54 that, in addition to the 100mm gun, received front rubber fenders over the tracks, a rear-opening loader hatch, and other modifications.
