About
After the Stridsfordon 90, or “Combat Vehicle 90,” entered service with the Swedish military in the 1990s, several variants were developed. The Stridsfordon 9040/56 BILL was a prototype built using a standard 9040 unit (with a 40mm Bofors autocannon) as its base. A dual RB56 missile launcher that fired BILL anti-tank guided missiles was fitted to the unit. Had tests been successful, the vehicle would have filled a combat role similar to that of the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. However, performance issues led to the project being discontinued.
