About
Initially developed by Porsche, the Wiesel was a lightweight armored weapons carrier made to support the German military’s ground operations. It was capable of being transported and air-dropped by military aircraft. Several variations were built and used in testing; the German Army selected and ordered two variations for production in 1985. Of the units ordered, 135 were equipped with a Rheinmetall dual-feed 20mm automatic gun. The other 210 received a TOW missile launcher.
