About
The Super M48 was the name for an upgrade package for the M48A2GA2, which was itself a modification of the U.S.’s M48 Patton tanks, purchased by West Germany in the late 1970s. The Super M48 design retained the 105mm L7A3 rifled gun of the M48A2GA2 but added modular appliqué armor for the turret, a MOLF 48 fire control system, and other updates. Despite its enhancements, the Super M48 failed to gain interest. Only five prototype units were built.
