In the early 1980s, the French military added the AMX 30B2 to its vehicle roster. This updated version of the AMX 30 included a new fire control system, engine, and transmission among its improvements. The FORAD version featured additional modifications, such as a combat fire simulator and distinct camo pattern, that allowed it to effectively play the role of enemy vehicle, or Force Adverse, during training missions.
