Leopard 1A1

Starting in the early 1970s, the Leopard 1 underwent a series of modifications that continued throughout its lifespan. The Leopard 1A1 variant added several upgrades to the to the already venerable main battle tank’s design, including removable side skirts, a thermal gun sleeve, and a gun stabilization system. Later that decade, after add-on armor was mounted to the gun shield and turret, the variant became known as the Leopard 1A1A1.
