About
As a result of its heavy losses in the Sino-Vietnamese War of 1979, the People’s Liberation Army undertook a program to modernize its Type 62 vehicles. Known as the Type 62-I or by its factory designation, WZ-131A, the upgrade package is said to have included 33 modifications, including a protective shield around the 12.7mm heavy machine gun and a laser rangefinder.
