The T-80BV was a version of the T-80B that entered service with Soviet forces in 1985. This version was outfitted with first-generation Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor (ERA), likely as a response to ammunition used by U.S. forces. Like the T-80B, the T-80BV was capable of launching AT-8/Songster anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM).
