About
While the U.S. Army phased the M103 out of use in the 1960s, the Marine Corps adopted a number of units and fitted them with upgrades. A total of 153 M103 vehicles were updated with the same 750-hp diesel engine used in the M60 main battle tank, which improved their operational speed and range. The converted vehicles received the M103A2 designation and entered service in 1964.
