About
Egypt decided to leverage its existing inventory of T-34/85 when looking for a Tank Destroyer to mount the World War II era BS-3 100 mm anti-tank gun. Additional armor plates were added to the turret and additional recoil mechanisms were installed. The additional turret extensions actually extended the turret beyond the hull roof giving the T-100 a distinct profile. By the time the T-100 was used in combat by the Egyptians against the Israelis in the early 1970s, the weapons systems showed their age and were forced into a largely defensive role.
