Among the many variants of the Soviet T-72 main battle tank to exist was the T-72M, an export version built with steel armor in place of composite armor. In addition to being purchased by nations both within and outside of the Warsaw Pact, the T-72M was built under license by Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Yugoslavia.
